The general consensus is that this notebook will be slimmer, thinner and will come packed with top-of-the-shelf configurations.

Towards the beginning of this week, Intel CEO Brian Krzanich introduced the power-packed seventh-generation Core Kaby Lake chip. Intel has used the efficient 14nm manufacturing process to make this chip.

This chipset offers support to Thunderbolt 3, USB 3.1 and DisplayPort 1.2. Also, this is the same chip rumored to be powering the heavily-anticipated MacBook Pro 2016.

However, the ever-credible MacRumors, citing an old roadmap belonging to Intel, says the Kaby Lake chips that fit the MacBook Pro, iMac, and Mac Mini lineup will not be available for the OEMs until the end of this year or the beginning of next year.

This means Apple’s next-generation devices earmarked for release in 2016 will not get Kaby Lake. Instead, they have to settle for the Skylake chips. In any case, readers should note that, Apple or Intel has not confirmed this information thus far.

Moving on to other key MacBook Pro 2016 specifications and features, past rumors suggested that an OLED strip will replace the traditional function keys.

Similar to the iPhones and iPads, the next-generation MacBook will reportedly feature a fingerprint sensor embedded on the power button. With fingerprint scanner onboard, the expectation is that this notebook might get full-fledged Apple Pay support.

Another believable rumor is that Apple might make use of AMD Polaris graphics card. This is quite ambitious because the target audience here is the gamers. With games like No Man’s Sky taking the world by storm, Apple would like to cash-in on the surge in interest specific to gaming.

To top it off, the trackpad will apparently be wider when compared to the predecessor. This move will improve the usability of the device. We are also hearing that the MacBook Pro 2016 will come as three variants in gray, gold and silver hues. In addition to the standard connectivity options, this device will support Type-C USB port.
