#SurfacePhone #WindowsPhone – Microsoft’s Surface Phone release date likely in 2017? : Microsoft has yet to confirm the release of the rumored Surface Phone in 2017 as there was no mention of the device at Microsoft’s event last week. The company also did not give any hint regarding the release of the Windows 10 Mobile.
The rumor mill suggests that the release of the Surface Phone will be sometime this year, but having witnessed Microsoft’s October 26 event, it could possibly be in 2017. According to a leak reported by PC Advisor, the Surface Phone may look like a mini Surface tablet.
The Surface Phone may be equipped with a 5.5 AMOLED display, 64-bit Intel processor, 4GB memory and 64GB/128GB internal storage. Other features include a microSD card slot, 21 Megapixels rear camera, and a smaller Surface Pen. Other reports suggest an 8GB of memory, Qualcomm Snapdragon 830 processor, 512 GB memory and a 5.7 AMOLED display.
In an interview, Microsoft executive vice president Terry Myerson told PC World that they will continue to invest in ARM and cellular. “And while I’m not saying what type of device, I think we’ll see devices there – Windows devices – that use ARM chips. I think we’ll see devices that have cellular connectivity,” he added.
While it’s too early to say that Microsoft’s mobile phone product line is dead, Myerson using the word “devices” instead of “phones” have led to people speculating that the supposed Surface Phone will actually be a tablet equipped with an ARM chip and cellular connectivity.
