#Apple #MacBookPro – Apple Kills MacBook Pro 2016 SD Card Slot, but Keeps Headphone Jack : Apple infuriated a lot of fans when it killed the headphone jack on the iPhone 7. Although some speculated that the tech giant might ditch the headphones jack on the MacBook Pro too, thankfully, that’s not the case.
Last week, Apple unveiled its MacBook Pro laptops. Thankfully, it retains the old 3.5mm headphone jack. Of course, this retention to the headphone jacks raises the question, why did the Cupertino-based company remove the headphone jack from the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus, but not from the MacBook Pro.
Explaining the issue, VP of Marketing at Apple Phil Schiller said: “These are pro machines. If it was just about headphones, then it doesn’t need to be there; we believe that wireless is a great solution for headphones.
But many users have setups with studio monitors, amps, and other pro audio gear that do not have wireless solutions and need the 3.5mm jack.” This answer is dubbed a bit strange for fans’ liking, considering the fact that the new MacBook Pro also lacks the SD card slot.
Lack of the SD card slot makes it more inconvenient for professional photographers to transfer data from their cameras to their PCs. If you want to read the complete justification from Apple to limit the MacBook Pro.
Mr. Schiller’s explanation for retaining the headphone jack on the newly-released laptops is also considered a fry cry from his reasoning for ditching them on the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus: “courage.” Apple could have used the same one-word reasoning to explain the loss of headphones jack on MacBook (in case it would have happened), but it didn’t.
Alright, whether you are in awe of this move or not, the company has given its reason for killing off the jack in one product and keeping it another one. Well, Apple could’ve released a new MacBook Pro without a headphone jack, but, you know what? That takes some “courage,” right? Source: thecountrycaller
