#iPhone6Plus #iOS9 – Is your iPhone suffering from Touch Disease? If so, Apple has offered to fix it : Apple has announced the launch of a repair programme aimed at fixing the so called ‘touch disease’ that has blighted iPhone 6 Plus handsets.
Despite complaints from users dating back to 2014, this is the first time the Cupertino tech giant has officially acknowledged the problem that affects the touch screen on larger size iPhones.
Touch disease is said to be widespread with users claiming their iPhone 6 Plus has been left all but unusable after the touch screen stopped responding to taps and swipes.
Some users also complain of a constant flickering of the screen, which also means the device can not be used properly. The error is reportedly caused by a fault with one of the chips located on the logic board of the iPhone 6 Plus.
The error causes further problems for users as replacing the touchscreen alone does not fix the problem. However, now Apple has stepped in to say it will repair affected devices.
“Apple has determined that some iPhone 6 Plus devices may exhibit display flickering or Multi-Touch issues after being dropped multiple times on a hard surface and then incurring further stress on the device,” the company said in a statement on its website.
The company has said it will repair the issue for a fee of $149 or 5,500 Baht for users in Thailand. Apple also said that for anyone who paid more than that amount to have the issue fixed at an official Apple store or reseller will also eligible to claim a refund for the difference.
Previously Apple had said users were to blame if their iPhone 6 Plus developed touch disease, claiming that the device must have been dropped, resulting in damage to one of the touch screen chips.
However, this was rejected by users who claimed the iPhone 6 Plus was faulty. The contention resulted in Apple facing a number of class action lawsuits in the United States over the issue, due to Apple’s unwillingness to acknowledge the problem. Source: Thaivisa
