Walmart hopes (some) Black Friday shoppers will skip the lines for early Cyber Week deals : Walmart made its first splash on the holiday sales scene earlier in the season when it released its traditional print ad touting its biggest doorbuster deals. But for online shoppers, that was just a hint at what’s to come.

Like every other retailer, Walmart has been boosting its online presence during the holiday shopping season in recent years. According to a Walmart news release made available to Mashable, that increased focus is for good reason: there’s about 10 times more traffic on Walmart.com over the period between Thanksgiving weekend through Cyber Monday than at any other time of the year.

In order to fulfill the increased volume of orders that come from that massive uptick in traffic, the retailer has been building up “mega fulfillment centers” in strategic locations, built specifically for ecommerce. These centers are on average over one million square feet and are outfitted with advanced automation systems to retrieve items and bring them to associates for processing.

In 2015, five of these centers were live. This year, there will be 10, and they’ve been upgraded for even faster and more efficient processing. The number of products available online from Walmart has also increased from 8 million in 2015 to 23 million in 2016.

To make that upscaling worth the effort, the online orders need to keep up the pace. In addition to the already advertised doorbuster deals, Walmart is offering a a full slate of online-only holiday deals in a Cyber Week event, which kicks off on Black Friday at 12:01 a.m. EST.

It’s the first time Cyber Week is starting this early for Walmart – something that homebound Black Friday shoppers will appreciate as they dodge the lines and take advantage of the sales. We took a moment to highlight some of the best tech deals out of the bunch.
