Ford Motors News And Updates: 2018 Mustang Says Farewell To V6 Engines : The Ford Mustang has gone through transformations over the years and it looks like the 2018 model is about to go through another one. The 2018 Mustang is expected to come in with significant changes at it bids farewell to V6 engines and say hello to a few other better things.

Farewell V6 Engines?

Car and Driver reported that the V6 engine may no longer come in the 2018 Ford Mustang. Accordingly, a Ford dealer was inspecting the order guide for the 2018 Mustang and found an “invalid” mark on the order code of the V6 engine which led to the conclusion that Ford is eliminating the V6 trim on the 2018 model.  It was stated in the same report that this would make the 2.3-liter EcoBoost four-cylinder engine the standard trim while the 5.0-liter V8 rises as the higher trim level.

The Difference Between V6 And EcoBoost

According to report from Left Lane News the 3.7-liter V6 engine is capable of producing 300 horsepower and 280 pound-feet of torque. The EcoBoost on the other hand is capable of 10 more power for a total of 310 horsepower and 320 pound-feet of torque. With only a small difference, buyers may not miss the V6 engine at all.

2018 Ford Mustang Says Hello To New Things

It seems that losing the V6 engine will not all be bad since there will be few other new things to come. According to report from Autoblog, the old six-speed automatic transmission will also get an upgrade of an additional four more to make a total of 10 speed like the one used in the Ford Raptor as well as other models of F-150s.

Other new features include a dual exhaust and the magnetorheological (MagneRide) dampers found in the Shelby GT350. There was no indication regarding what trim the former comes in but the latter will be available on the EcoBoost and GT models as reported. Source: iTechpost
