Florida Fireball Sparks UFO Invasion Rumors [Video] : A series of UFO invasion rumors spread thanks to a fireball that appeared in the Florida sky. While such behemoth sites on the Internet as Facebook and Google have stopped many fake news that get leaked, they have other false articles on them that cause unnecessary rumors to spread like wildfire.
Take the one about a fireball that lit up the horizon above Florida and was mistaken for an alien invasion. Some websites stated that the fireball exploded above the US and that it was a sure sign of UFO marauders, according to STgist.
Earlier knowledge of UFOs added to the confusion and pretty soon everybody had a headache on their hands. This is the nature of the media that it exaggerates things and distorts reality so that it appears different from what it really is.
Now many freaks and geeks are actually thinking that the government is hiding the fact that aliens are about to ransack the planet. However, reality is often bitter and many a beautiful hypothesis has been slain by an ugly fact.
It was just a large brilliant meteor that caught fire and disintegrated as it entered the earth’s atmosphere. Other rocks that enter our atmosphere also tend to light up and go kaput in a blaze of glory.
This one was no different from all the previous cases. The friction with the air causes the rocks to start to burn ferociously. There are some rocks that fail to completely burn up and they may strike the earth, but it is exceedingly rare.
Sometimes a sonic boom is heard too. Yet that is about it. Only once in a blue moon does a rock large enough to cause extensive damage find its way to the surface of our planet. The Florida fireball event was just like many other events that have transpired. The only difference is that we are living in a media-saturated society today.
The media has a tendency of making a mountain out of a molehill. Agreed that the fireball was very bright in the night sky. Yet it was not something to panic about in such a manner. The fact that the Ufologists had a field day shows that it is more interesting to spread lies than to face the uninteresting truth.
According to American Meteor Society, the only part of this meteor that landed on the ground was as large as a watermelon. It hit the side of the road and that was all. That is the way things ended, not with a bang but a whimper to quote T.S. Eliot. Source: i4u
