Mythical Microsoft Surface Phone Begins Production Trials: Rumors : Microsoft Corporation‘s Surface Phone may not be far away, if a recent report is to be believed. As per a recent report by the Commercial Times of Taiwan, the ODM Pegatron is currently running production trials on the mythical Surface Phone. ODM Pegatron produces the Surface Studio and the iPhone.
Microsoft to start trial production
Pegatron is working with Microsoft Corporation to produce Surface devices, as per a report by Commercial Times. Further, the report said the tech giant is ready to start trial production of the Surface Phone now. The report said the company is expected to announce the Surface Phone next year.
It looks like the hardware maker is ready to re-enter the smartphone market with a new phone that has no link to their Lumia line-up, no link to the past but in sync with the entire Surface lineup of devices. Talking about such a Phone, Microsoft CEO – Satya Nadella – recently said that they do not want to be driven by just envy of what other companies have, “the question is, what can we bring?”
“That’s where I look at any device form factor or any technology, even AI. We will continue to be in the phone market not as defined by today’s market leaders, but by what it is that we can uniquely do in what is the most ultimate mobile device,” Nadella said.
Surface Phone: specs, release date, price
Lumia phones failed to carry Microsoft Corporation to mobile glory despite. The hardware maker needs to release a perfect smartphone now that can attract already invested Android and iOS users to Windows.
As per the rumors, the Surface phone is expected to come in three variants – Business Edition, Enthusiast Edition, and Consumer Edition. Another interesting rumor is that the tech giant is likely to use an Intel processor to re-build a Wintel force. The Surface Phone is expected to include features like the ability to run x86 apps on Continuum mode, to set it apart from other phones.
As per the reports, the release date of the Surface phone is expected to be sometime in the first half of next year (2017). The hardware maker may want to avoid releasing a new smartphone anytime near the launch of the next-gen iPhone.
Hence, the timing of a new Surface handset may break the tradition. As for the cost of the smartphone, the Surface Phone could be priced $699 – $1,100 approx. We still have to wait and see, if a device like that actually makes it to the market. Source: learnbonds
